I bought this about 3 weeks ago, it was the old craggy bark that attracted it to me.
Some thinning of old branches was done and potted into a temp bonsai pot.
It still needs to be brought a lot tighter and more branch selection done but I will leave that till it settles in the pot.
I can honestly say I don’t know if it will work or not, but I will give it a dam good go. I have been trolling tru the net to find some other salix caprea/goat willow bonsai but there isn’t much there. Maybe there to awkward, maybe there ugly when done, I don’t know but I will find out in a year or 2. Anyway here is a few pics and we can take it from there.
Obviously the exciting main branches will we brought closer to the trunk but for the moment it looks vigorous and healthy so plenty of sun and water, and who knows what next year will bring.
If anyone has had any dealings with these willows and would like to share there experience please do not hesitate to get in touch.
